Markel Lee, 17, turned himself in to the police and is currently in the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison.

An exchange of gunfire at a food court inside a Louisiana mall on Thursday killed one person and wounded five others and sent workers and shoppers scrambling for safety, police and witnesses said.

"Unfortunately there were some innocent people in the area who might have also caught some rounds," Police Chief Thomas Morse Jr said during a news conference.
